Review : More Than This, Patrick Ness

So…I don’t even know where to start ! This book was brillant and I’m not even sure what I’ve just read ! You’re confused ? Yeah, me too. Beautifully written by Patrick Ness, More Than This is a intense and exciting read with a vibrant imagination.

What’s the story ?

Exif_JPEG_PICTUREThis is the story of a boy who dies drowning and then wakes up, bruised and desperate, in a deserted place. How is this possible ? Well, that’s what the boy is going to figure it out. You’re intrigued right? Well, i’m not going to tell you more, you’re just gonna have to buy it…

Should i read it ?

To begin with, don’t let the young adult categorization fool you because it’s really more than this (pun intended ;)) ! It’s a book that’s going to stay with you long after you’ve finished it. As you flip through the pages, your mind can’t stop asking more questions about what happened, what’s happening and what’s going to happen and just when you think you’ve figured it all out, well… everything is jumbled again and you’re even more lost and confused than you were before. It can a bit frustrating not knowing what’s going on and not getting any answers but believe me, it is worth the ride ! I really enjoyed the characters, they felt real and true, and the great writing. It’s a story that will make you think and you’re going to devour it in one sitting (or maybe two…you need time to let it sink!). In all, a provocative and moving novel. Hats off to Patrick Ness !

  • It made you want to read it ? Buy it now.
